I’ll be adding information here about old AC30 transformers from time to time as it becomes available. I have several vintage transformers which I’ll be stripping down layer-by-layer.
There won’t be much theory or maths, because there are plenty of other sites that do a much better job of that than I could hope to, but there will be photos, measurements and descriptions of the construction methods and materials used in AC30 transformers, and how they differ from their modern equivalents.
By the way, I’m looking for a few more broken AC30 or AC15 transformers to study, so if anyone has any they would like to sell (or donate!), please e-mail me with a description and price (RS, Haddon, Albion, Woden, Parmeko or Lemark only, please).
